Sassy, Funny, Corky !
Barbara Allen is Co-founder of Columbus Unscripted and director of the Columbus Improv Festival. She is a founding member and coach of the Columbus Unscripted Production, "Sassy Do!," and co-director of education. Barbara focuses on promoting Columbus’ talent, celebrating all individual performances, and teaching classes for both youth and adults. Her work extends into the community with non-profits, improvisers, and The Columbus Unscripted's Improv Festival. She celebrates the practical applications and connections between improvisation and leadership working most recently with The Theatre Roundtable of Columbus, The State of Ohio Training Association (SOTA), The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), The United Way of Central Ohio, Ohio Dominican University and The Ohio State University. She is thrilled to have taught Columbus Unscripted’s inaugural all-female improv class and was humbled and honored to share improv as an invited speaker at TEDx Columbus Women 2013. Most recently, she shared the power of improvisation working with foster youth as an invited presenter at The 2014 Jim E Casey National Summit on Authentic Youth Engagement and the Marion Correctional Institution working with over 80 inmates. Barbara was a featured teller in the Spring of 2015 at Speak Easy’s Annual celebration of story, "The Big Easy." She has studied with The Second City (Cleveland and Chicago), The Annoyance Theatre (Chicago) and Pull the String Productions (Columbus) and was selected to perform as an apprentice and featured improv performer for five years in the Chicago Improv Festival with the Columbus Unscripted Production, "See You Thursday." She performs with Columbus Unscripted’s shows, See You Thursday, Dixie Cups, Soul Mates, and Sassy Do!. She is married to professional storyteller Kevin Cordi. Barbara believes in a spirit of improvisation in which "everyone matters!"
