Saturday, October 11th from 12:30pm -2:30pm If you’ve always wanted to try stand-up comedy but have no idea where to begin, this is the workshop for you! If you’re someone who has been planning to try stand-up, but you’re waiting “until you’re ready,” this is the workshop for you! Thistwo-hour course will give you writing exercises and information on how to begin navigating your local comedy scene. You’ll learn basic stage and open-mic etiquette, and will explore different types of comedic styles and joke structures. This class is designed to be the spark that ignites a fire for doing stand-up. After that, it’s up to you to either fan the flames or let them burn out.

Does genre work scare you?! When someone shouts outa suggestion that you don’t know, do you go into panic mode?! What if someone makes you rap or dance?! This workshop focuses on boldly diving into scene-work, trusting your instincts, and not being afraid to fail. The audience lives vicariously through the challenges thrown at improvisers. They want the train to go off the tracks occasionally. This workshop focuses on embracing the train wreck when it happens, and failing so big that your failures turn into triumphs!

Genre Improvisation Thursday 10/9 5:30 - 7:30
Alfred Hitchcock is known as the Master of Suspense, the ability to hold an audience’s attention and keep them on the edge of their seats. Working with Hitch*Cocktails, students will learn about key stylistic elements unique in Hitchcockian films to develop strong character choices and emotional and heightened stakes to fuel their genre improvisation. Students will explore the art of suspense, while focusing on detail laden and more enriching partner scene work. The goal of this workshop is to enable students to identify the successful ingredients of relationships, character archetypes, and suspenseful intensity to play a successful scene with murderous intent in any genre
